Gone Girl
Film openings have many purposes:
- To introduce the setting + location
- Introduce the film genre
- Set the tone
- Introduce the feeling of the characters
- Credit people who made the film
- Engage the audience
During the opening you are shown IDENT then a narration takes over, You are introduced to a female character on a bed having a male character playing with her hair, this an indication that these are going to be our main two characters that we are going to focus on. During the opening neither is the story or plot are set up. We are told the genre of the film by the music, choice of shots and the way the camera moves, we know this a thriller.
