My Favourite Film - Title Sequence (RESEARCH)

I actually have lots of films I really like, so it's hard to pick a favourite. However, I've chosen to analyse the title sequence of one of the best comedy movies ever made; Rush Hour 3.

This, in my opinion, is an amazing film opening. It uses titles over moving images, and is an example of a narrative title sequence. The effect of this is that the setting is made clear - Los Angeles, explicit from the long establishing shots. We then learn about the genre - a police comedy, due to Chris Tucker, in a LAPD uniform, comically dancing Michael-Jackson-Style to an iconic Prince song. This already engages the audience, and has everyone in the room laughing. This scene also helps establish the character of Agent Carter, possibly the greatest ever movie character, even without watching Rush Hour 1 and 2. This also fits smoothly into the rest of the film, and doesn't exist as a separate section, with the resulting car crash leading into the main plot.
The order of the credits are as follows:
  1. Ident
  2. New Line Cinema Presents
  3. In association with Unlike Film Productions
  4. A Roger Birnbaum and Arthur Sarkissian Production
  5. A Brett Ratner Film
  6. Chris Tucker   Jackie Chan (Main Characters)
  7. RUSH HOUR 3 (Film Title)
  8. Then names of other less key actors
